About Us
At Trent AI, we believe the future applications of AI lie in specialized, domain-expert agents that act independently and autonomously, delivering productivity gains by working alongside humans. Achieving this requires AI to evolve from a tool requiring constant oversight to systems with genuine learning capabilities and proven reliability. This is a difficult challenge, but fortunately, Neil, Zhenwen, and Eno have joined forces again, and they’re ready and excited for the journey!
We’ve assembled a world-class team with real experience in both deep research and execution. We’ve seen firsthand from our experiences at Spotify, Alcion (acquired by Veeam), Confluent, and AWS what it takes to deliver products that delight customers. We know that AI is often a small part of the end-to-end solution. We are not distracted by hype and noise in this area, and our goal is to build a company that stands the test of time.

Eno Thereska
Co-founder and CEO
My mission is to make AI robust and production-ready by solving the critical final 10% of challenges that will enable true global-scale deployment. Before co-founding Trent AI, I was a Distinguished Engineer at Alcion (acquired by Veeam), Principal Engineer at AWS, and an early engineer at Confluent. I received my Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University, where I worked at the intersection of machine learning, AI, and distributed systems.

Neil Lawrence
Co-founder and Chief Scientist
I have worked on machine learning models for over 25 years. My main interest is the interaction of machine learning with the real world. This interest was triggered by deploying machine learning in the African context, where ‘end-to-end’ solutions are normally required, which inspired new research directions at the interface of machine learning and systems research. As Director of Machine Learning at Amazon, I influenced many real-world deployments of machine learning. I am the co-host of the Talking Machines podcast and the author of the book The Atomic Human.

Zhenwen Dai
Co-founder and CTO
I am passionate about building AI systems that improve autonomously and reliably, solving real-world tasks for humans. Previously, I led a research lab at Spotify, developing AI for personalized listening experiences and was a machine learning scientist at Amazon, while working with Neil Lawrence. Following my Ph.D. and postdoctoral research in machine learning, I co-founded Interentia Limited, which was later acqui-hired by Amazon.
